PitchWatt

FOR HOLIDAY PARKS & HOLIDAY HOMES

Electricity use. A clearer picture.

Across a holiday park or inside your own static caravan or lodge, understanding electricity use starts with being able to see it.

PitchWatt brings connected electricity readings and usage history into a clear dashboard. For park teams, that means a better view of each monitored pitch and the figures behind energy bills. For holiday home owners, it means understanding your own consumption, spotting changes and keeping a record you can refer back to.

From each hookup to a clearer bill

  • Readings start at the hookup: compatible energy-monitoring devices measure the electricity used by each supply. They connect to a dedicated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network on your park, linking each monitored hookup to PitchWatt.
  • Your Wi-Fi carries the data: readings travel over the park's internet connection to the PitchWatt platform using encrypted data transmission. Reliable Wi-Fi at the device and a working internet connection are both needed for readings to arrive.
  • Put the readings to work: follow usage graphs, check the available history and export reports. Manage tariffs and standing charges, then review the readings and charges before billing. Gaps in the available data remain visible.

Recording continues when the connection drops

A Wi-Fi or broadband outage need not mean losing the electricity record. Compatible monitors keep recording locally while they remain powered and correctly configured, even when readings cannot reach PitchWatt.

30 days of local history available. We can specify monitors that retain at least 30 days of one-minute energy records on the device itself. The storage period is confirmed for the equipment selected for your installation.

When connectivity returns, PitchWatt automatically retrieves available stored readings from supported, configured monitors to fill gaps in the usage graph. Catch-up takes time; live updates pause during the outage. The local store has a finite capacity, so older readings may be overwritten during a prolonged disconnection. A monitor cannot record while it has no power, or recover readings it never stored. Billing records still need their usual review.

The Wi-Fi each device needs

A dedicated IoT network keeps the monitoring devices separate from everyday park Wi-Fi. These are the requirements we check before installation.

  • Dedicated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi: provide a 2.4 GHz network for the monitoring devices. A 5 GHz-only network will not meet this requirement. Devices must connect without a guest sign-in page or a time-limited Wi-Fi session.
  • Isolated and reserved for PitchWatt: keep this network separate from guest, staff and other device networks, using a dedicated network segment (VLAN) and firewall rules. Only authorised PitchWatt monitoring devices should be permitted to join.
  • An internet connection that stays available: the device network needs ongoing internet access to send readings to PitchWatt. It should remain available when guest Wi-Fi is switched off. Local recording on supported monitors helps cover connection outages, but live updates and retrieval of stored readings need the connection to return.
  • Coverage at every monitored hookup: Wi-Fi must reach the device at every mains hookup or supply point being monitored. Coverage at reception or along the park roads alone is not enough: the connection must work at the actual meter location, with its enclosure closed.

Preferably a hidden network name. We prefer a hidden Wi-Fi name (SSID) where device compatibility allows, so it does not appear in the usual network list. Hiding the name does not secure the network: encryption, controlled credentials and firewall isolation are still required.

Need Wi-Fi at the far end of the park?

If your park does not yet have suitable coverage or a separate device network, speak to WiFiSetup. We can survey the hookup locations, assess your existing infrastructure and recommend the coverage and network changes needed.

Metal cabinets and other shielded enclosures can weaken or block the signal. We check these locations as part of the survey and assess practical options before installation.
