FOR CARAVAN & LODGE OWNERS

Your holiday home. Your electricity use. A clearer picture.

Electricity monitoring for static caravan and lodge owners who want to understand what their own holiday home is using.

Perhaps an electricity bill from your park is higher than you expected. Perhaps you want to see what is being used between visits. Or you simply want a clearer idea of your everyday consumption.

With a suitable monitor and dashboard setup, PitchWatt helps you explore your holiday home's recorded electricity use, follow changes over time and keep reports you can refer back to.

Ask about monitoring your holiday home

See beyond the total on your bill

Your bill shows a charge for a period. Monitoring helps you look more closely at the electricity used within it.

Review your recorded consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh), explore the usage graphs and select a period to investigate. See when use increased, when it settled down and how the pattern relates to your visits.

Make sense of a bill that surprised you

If a bill does not match what you expected, having your own usage record can help you ask more specific questions. Save a PDF report and compare the recorded kWh with the consumption shown for the same period on your park's bill.

For a useful comparison, check that both records cover the same dates and the same electricity supply. Look at the unit rate and any other charges separately from the amount of electricity used.

Differences can arise from reading dates, what each meter measures or missing data. Your monitoring record can support a conversation with the park; it does not, by itself, establish that a bill is wrong.

Understand what happens between visits

An empty holiday home can still use electricity. A fridge, frost protection or equipment left on may contribute to background consumption.

Review the periods when you were away and see whether the recorded pattern looks as you expected. Unusual use gives you something to check on your next visit or discuss with someone at the park.

See how your habits affect consumption

Look back at a weekend stay or compare two periods with different routines. Notice how recorded electricity use changes when you adjust heating times or switch off equipment you no longer need running.

The dashboard helps you observe the difference. What you can save depends on your holiday home, the equipment you use and the changes you make.

A dashboard for the information you want to see

  • Recorded electricity use: understand how much energy your monitored supply has used.
  • Usage over time: explore patterns during your stays and between visits.
  • A closer look at a period: investigate a change or select dates relevant to a bill.
  • Reports to keep: save a PDF summary to review, print or share when you choose.

Questions from caravan and lodge owners

Can I enquire if my park does not use PitchWatt?

Yes. You can enquire about monitoring your own holiday home. We will need to check the electricity supply, suitable equipment, connectivity and any park permission needed before confirming an individual setup.

Will it tell me exactly which appliance used the electricity?

A monitor on the main supply shows the combined use of everything it measures. The timing of a change can help you investigate, but identifying an individual appliance requires suitable separate monitoring.

Can I see my usage when I am away?

Remote viewing depends on your monitor having a working connection and your dashboard access being set up. We will check the connection available at your holiday home before recommending a setup. Access is provided once your PitchWatt account has been set up.

Will a connection outage lose my usage history?

With a compatible monitor, recording continues locally while the device stays powered and correctly configured. Monitors with at least 30 days of one-minute energy storage are available; we confirm the capacity for your setup.

Your dashboard waits for the connection to return. PitchWatt can then automatically retrieve available stored readings from supported monitors to fill gaps in the usage graph. Recovery takes time and is limited to records still held on the device. It cannot reconstruct readings from when the monitor had no power or readings that were never stored or have been overwritten.

Can it check an old bill from before installation?

Only where suitable readings are available for that period. A newly fitted monitor cannot reconstruct electricity use it never recorded. Monitoring is most useful when it is in place before the period you want to review.

Does my monitor replace the park's billing meter?

The individual monitoring setup described here provides an additional record of your consumption. It does not automatically replace the meter or arrangements your park uses for billing.

What is involved in getting started?

Tell us whether you own a static caravan or lodge, what you want to monitor and whether it has an internet connection. We can discuss equipment and installation requirements, including any work that needs a qualified electrician or permission from the park.

Spend less time wondering what is being used

Whether you want to understand a bill, check consumption between visits or simply keep track, start with a conversation about your holiday home.
